According to a study by UK blockchain analysis company Elliptic, North Korean hackers have stolen $721 million worth of cryptocurrency assets from Japan since 2017, according to the Nikkei business daily.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), which is a secretive state, is linked to hackers who are responsible for over 30% of all cryptocurrency thefts worldwide.
The report comes after the central bank governors and finance ministers of the Group of Seven said in a statement on Saturday that they supported efforts to tackle growing dangers from state actors’ illicit activities, such as the theft of crypto-assets read more North Korean hackers stole $721m worth of crypto from Japan.
