Pro-Ukrainian Hackers Strike Russian State TV on Putin’s Birthday

Ukraine has claimed responsibility for a cyber attack that attacked Russia state media company VGTRK and crippled its operations, according to reports from Bloomberg and Reuters.

VGTRK stated that the event occurred on October 7th, and they called it a “unprecedented hacker attack.” It did, however, state that despite attempts to halt radio and television broadcasts, “no significant damage” had been done and that everything was operating smoothly.

Nevertheless, citing an unnamed source, the Russian media outlet Gazeta.ru said that the hackers deleted “everything” from the business’s servers, including backups.
