Google confirms fraudulent account created in law enforcement portal
Google acknowledged that hackers had set up a fake account on its Law Enforcement seek System (LERS) platform, which is used by law enforcement to formally seek data from the corporation.
Google informed BleepingComputer, "We have discovered that a fraudulent account was created in our system for law enforcement requests, and we have disabled the account."
This bogus account was not used to make any requests or access any data.
Regarding the threat actor's allegations, the FBI chose not to comment. This declaration follows claims on Telegram by a group of threat actors identifying themselves as Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters that they had accessed the FBI's eCheck background check system and Google's LERS portal.
