TikTok banned on government devices in New York

TikTok has been prohibited on government-owned smartphones in New York City because to security reasons. It follows a number of US states and towns in imposing such limitations on the short video sharing app.

US politicians have been calling more frequently for a statewide ban on TikTok due to concerns about potential Chinese government influence. TikTok is used by more than 150 million Americans and is owned by Chinese internet company ByteDance.
