Zanubis Android Banking Trojan Poses as Peruvian Government App to Target Users

In order to deceive unwary users into installing the malware, a newly discovered Android banking trojan known as Zanubis is now disguising itself as a Peruvian government app.

According to a study released by Kaspersky last week, “Zanubis’s main infection path is through impersonating legitimate Peruvian Android applications and then tricking the user into enabling the Accessibility permissions in order to take full control of the device.”

The most recent Android banking malware to target the Latin American (LATAM) region is Zanubis, which was first discovered in August 2022. More than 40 banks and financial institutions in Peru are among the targets.
