FinWise insider breach impacts 689K American First Finance customers

On behalf of its business clients, FinWise Bank is alerting them of a data breach that occurred when a former employee gained access to private documents after leaving the company.

In a data breach notification filed on behalf of American First Finance (AFF), FinWise details a data security event that occurred on May 31, 2024, involving a former employee who gained access to FinWise data after their job ended.

American First Finance (AFF) provides customer financing options for a variety of goods and services, such as lease-to-own plans and installment loans. Consumers apply for and manage loans through AFF, which also handles customer assistance, account setup, services, and repayment.

As the bank that creates and finances these loans, FinWise collaborates with American First Finance.
