In order to resolve charges regarding an event in 2021 that exposed the information of 10 million students, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is suggesting that education technology supplier Illuminate Education remove superfluous student data and enhance its security.
The agency’s ruling came just after the states of California, Connecticut, and New York reached a $5.1 million settlement in their lawsuits against Illuminate over the same incident.
Illuminate Education is a provider of cloud-based technology products for school districts and K–12 institutions.
