Iranian nation-state actors have launched a new round of attacks against Israeli organizations in the fields of education, engineering, local government, industry, technology, transportation, and utilities. These attacks have resulted in the delivery of an undiscovered backdoor known as MuddyViper.
ESET has linked the activity to a hacking organization called MuddyWater (also known as Mango Sandstorm or TA450), a cluster thought to be connected to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). The attacks also singled out one technological company based in Egypt.
